Selia Albright (yes, thats right, the daughter of Gerald) is all set to release her debut EP from which the first single is 'Why Does Life' featuring no less than the great Brian Culbertson. Check it out here.
Back in December, and ahead of the release of the CD ‘Caution’, the ultra smooth Andre Ward posted a statement of intent with the single ‘Marvin’s Medley’. Built round snippets of Gaye’s 1976 smash ‘I Want You To Want Me’ this was far from your usual revamp of Marvin Gaye staples and, with an arrangement that sizzled with an authentic Motown vibe, it was a track that united fans of classic and smooth jazz in a coming together of mutual appreciation.
Now, with ‘Caution’ already at #1 on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Albums chart, the second single shows off a different side of Ward’s musical persona.
‘I Will Love You (The Wedding Song)’features Jamie Knight on vocals and is produced by Rahni Song who also features on keyboards. Check it out.
Canadian guitarist Rob Tardik certainly put down a marker with his recent album ‘Balance Energy Laughter Love’ (aka BELL). The singles ‘East Meets Wes’, ‘Shakin The House’ and ‘Smile’all made a considerable impact on the smooth jazz airwaves and now he is all set for more of the same with the CD ‘Limitless’.
The first single to be serviced to radio is the zesty ‘One World’ which, as far as Latin infused, guitar driven music goes, is right up there with the very best.
Look out for it.
